Marvin McDonald is a nationally acclaimed, award winning fingerstyle guitarist. He has thrilled audiences at Bumbershoot, Northwest Folklife Festival, the Kingdome Stadium, the Tacoma Freedom Fair, Port Angeles Concert on the Pier Series, Northwest Afternoon and KUOW and KONP radio.

Marvin’s eclectic styles were influenced by his Texas roots and artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Winter and later refined by the Seattle folk scene. Using his own compositions and original renditions of works by fingerstyle legends, Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges, Marvin dazzles his audiences with a burning, finger flying style and friendly humorous performances. His playing will take you through a delightful variety of music that leaves your brain often times trying to catch up with his fingers.

At the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championships held annually in Winfield, Kansas, Marvin drew National attention when he ranked third place in 1993 and second place in the 1994 competition.
